Spieces of wood

Botanical name: Brachistegia fleuryana.

Type: tree of Fabaceae family. This was called Zebrano because the colour of its wood associates with zebra and its clear dark stripes on light background. Zebrano wood has the same colour and closely spaced clear stripes line along the whole length of wood leaf. These stripes are of unimaginable tints from light brown to chocolate.

Texture: structure of this wood contains crossing or wavy fibers. Texture is large and rather rough. Zebrano wood is heavy, solid, very robust.

Density: 750 kg/m3.

Range: Gaboon and Cameroon, far and mysterious countries of Africa.

Zebrano is exotic tree from tropics. Zebrano wood has bright stripes and Southern coloration.

Mechanical properties: don’t bother that this tree is tropical. Its wood is adapted to adverse conditions, fungi and insects. After polishing the surface of Zebrano wood becomes smooth and glossy which adds contrast effect to exotic colour banding. Zebrano wood can be processed with any tool. In production of veneer the wood is planed radially to prevent casting.

Application: Zebrano is valued in production of parquet, decorative interior items, veneer for doors. This tree was often used in interior trim of German executive-class cars.

Zebrano is double-colour wood – light and dark. They compete with each other like day and night.
