HISTORY OF SLIDING DOORS

Door is coeval of homo sapiens. Human started to use door when cave became his home. However. it took great efforts to open such door. Only after many decades a sliding mechanism was invented.

Such construction did not come into life of closed Ancient China and Japan; countries which proudly bear names of native land of chess and paper could not invent sliding door construction themselves. They created their own unique system instead: extension type or folding screen type doors which are popular nowadays in the East and interiors of Eastern style.

Many centuries have elapsed but the construction of sliding doors has been preserved almost without changes.
