FROM HISTORY OF DOORS: DECOR OCCURRENCE

First doors appeared a long time ago and at that time they had only protective function. Over the centuries door had been redesigned, however by the beginning of the Middle Ages there was nothing remarkable and beautiful in this mechanism.

Large-scale construction of magnificent cathedrals and temples in the Middle Ages gave a stimulus to creation of door portal frames which corresponded to style and design of architectural complex. From that moment doors acquired decorative function complementary to protective function. Every building – cathedral, monastery or church – was decorated with especially beautiful door. Perfect paintings with iconographic scenes, tracery and ornaments were created for decorative purposes. Unequalled idea to adorn the doors making them stylish and beautiful is the merit of that period. Nowadays we can supplement our interior with perfect doors with stained glass, tracery and accessories thanks to that idea.
