At work, at home and even in car cabin we are surrounded with doors. It should seem that door is insomuch common element of interior and we can get to know nothing new about it. However, there are some interesting and little-known facts.

For example, the oldest doors in the world was found in 2010 in Zurich. Its approximate age is five thousand years and it was manufactured in 3100 year before Christ. Experts think that wood door was manufactured from poplar and it is very well-preserved.

The most terrible doors are in Slovenia, in Saint Nicolas cathedral. These doors were mounted in honour of visit of Pope John Paul II in 1996 and they illustrate the history of eparchy. However, painter made images of pontiffs very dark, ominous and terrible which reminds about sins of humans.

The biggest doors in the world belong to National Aeronautics and Space Administration of the USA (NASA). These are four huge doors 139 meter-length each. It is interesting that it takes 45 minutes to open and to close the doors.

The fastest doors are mounted in laboratories for work with explosives. It takes 0.032 seconds to close these doors. They are in America and Europe.
