WHAT WE DID NOT KNOW: THE MOST UNCOMMON DOORS (CONTINUATION)

The heaviest door weighs 321.4 tons and it is 2.43 m in thickness. This is the unique hinged door of such size. It is located in Lawrence Livermore National laboratory of US Department of Energy, California, in safeguard of “Spallation neutron source-2”, the most intense source of neutron synthesis on the Earth. Despite its heaviness and bulkiness this door can be opened even by one person due to construction of door hinges. However, all employees use remote control because the door is of too considerable dimensions.

The most reliable door for dwelling was made in Columbia.

WHAT WE DID NOT KNOW: THE MOST UNCOMMON DOORS

This is somewhat inconceivable! Construction has the following protective systems:

  • fireproof
  • bullet-proof
  • explosion-proof
  • 10 locks (3/4 inch pins)
  • special protection against metal-cutters
  • biometric system of lock (it checks fingerprint pattern first, then draw a blood sample to determine whether it is finger of alive person)
  • IP camera integration: optionally a photo of visitor is sent to house owner’s e-mail directly after pressing the door-bell.

One can’t help but wonder how much this super door can cost. However, its price considering the above points is quite fair – $2500. The most important thing is to reinforce the house when installing such door, otherwise thieves can destroy the walls, break windows and take away the most valuable thing – the door.
